Wandsworth Riverside Apartment

No. 11

A complete top-to-bottom redesign and refurbishment of this contemporary riverside apartment in Wandsworth, West London, creating a luxurious and relaxed home with stunning views over the Thames.

Overview

This comprehensive interior design project in Wandsworth, West London, has totally reimagined a once dated and underused apartment into a vibrant and inviting riverside retreat. Our client wanted a space that felt like a Thai beach sanctuary with a luxury city edge – somewhere to unwind after a busy week and entertain in style against the backdrop of spectacular Thames sunsets.

Drawing inspiration from the soft pink-orange hues of the evening skies along the river, the main living area was designed to evoke that warm, relaxed atmosphere. Relaxation and entertaining were equally prioritised, reflecting the way our client uses this West London apartment as a pied-à-terre and weekend base.

In keeping with the contemporary architectural style of the building (circa 2005), we developed an interior scheme that enhances the existing clean lines and modern feel, with bespoke elements and thoughtfully curated finishes throughout.

A Thai beach inspired scheme with metropolitan elegance

While the architectural language of the apartment is crisp and contemporary, the furnishings introduce warmth and texture through more rustic influences. Smoked and limed timbers, antique brass ironmongery, driftwood and fossil elements soften the scheme and reinforce the coastal narrative, creating a tactile contrast to the clean interior lines.

The kitchen worktops are a beautifully detailed light grey quartz, featuring heavy sandy and burnt-orange veining that subtly references the tones of sun-soaked beaches and evening skies. Fully integrated Miele appliances complete the scheme, ensuring both performance and visual clarity within the space.

The two bathrooms were designed with the same sense of drama and indulgence, using bold wall tiles and layered mood lighting to create spa-like environments that feel both intimate and luxurious.

Soft neutrals layered with vibrant accents define the private spaces

Both bedrooms were designed as calm, restorative retreats, using gentle neutral bases enlivened with punchy colour accents. This approach creates spaces that feel soothing yet characterful, perfectly suited to their role as weekend escapes in this West London home.

Artwork was commissioned specifically for the project, combining bold, loose abstract acrylic paintings with themed imagery inspired by Thailand. Almost every element of the interior was bespoke, including upholstery, curtains and blinds, rugs and artwork, resulting in a fully tailored and highly personal environment.

Working closely with a trusted main contractor who project-managed the refurbishment, we liaised throughout the build and returned at the final stage to install all furnishings and finishes. The result is a dramatically transformed Wandsworth riverside apartment, now beautifully planned and a pleasure to inhabit – whether for quiet weekends, romantic escapes or entertaining against the spectacular backdrop of the Thames.

Tim listened and learned about our family before he started designing. He used art that we had collected from our travels around the world to build a colourful, cosy, look that has some wow factor. He listened to our feedback and advised us like a friend. We very much enjoyed working with Tim and hope to use him for interior design projects in the future.
