Eclectic Country House

No. 7

We were hired to reimagine the interiors of this beautiful 17th century mansion, set within tranquil landscaped grounds in a rural part of Stamford in Lincolnshire.

Overview

One of our more traditional projects, this striking house felt very special from the moment we arrived to take the brief and measure up. Our clients asked us to produce full decorative design schemes for ten rooms including the six-metre-high entrance hall, five bedrooms and four reception rooms.

Our brief was to create something magical that looked and felt quite traditional – but had a contemporary twist. With that in mind, we designed every room from scratch, incorporating all-new bespoke furniture, soft furnishings, accessories and artwork. Before implementing our designs, we carefully coordinated renovation works culminating in a full redecoration that included an impressive Iksel mural installation in the central hall.

The result is a warm & inspiring forever home that overflows with soul

The drawing room of this impressive house was a key area for our clients; it was to be their quiet retreat from the rest of the house – and the venue for Christmas family gatherings. Quirky design features include: an expertly sculpted three-metre fabric pelmet, a custom-made brass club fender upholstered in pink leather and a giant bronze-studded footstool which opens for storage.

At the heart of the house lies the double-height hall – a very special space. It features a completely bespoke wall mural which we had created for the room’s exact dimensions. The lush colour scheme comprises natural greens, pink and terra cotta, with both the glass chandelier and silk lamp shades in contrasting amber tones. Mallard themed fabric was chosen for the landing blinds and the original hand-operated wire doorbell was carefully restored to working order.

A project that brought us all plenty of smiles along the way

We loved collaborating with our clients to uncover what truly inspires them – from their aesthetic loves and favourite colour palettes to the art and furnishings they’re drawn to. Our goal was to design a home that feels deeply personal but also uplifting.

We’re especially happy with how the wallpapers, fabrics, and colours came together so harmoniously, and how the bespoke pieces fit so naturally into each space. An important factor was making the house feel magical and we’re confident we’ve succeeded in this. This project is a great example of our comprehensive design service. Even with a fairly traditional brief, there’s always room to keep things light and playful – overly serious or formal isn’t really in our DNA.

Tim is a great listener and puts you quickly at ease. He works hard to understand how you live, your rhythms, what inspires you and then gently suggests ideas. He seeks to safely expand your palate, suggesting innovative designs, fabrics, items and room flow that encourages you to be adventurous whilst keeping true to yourself. The outcome is an amazing collaboration and something we are very proud of.
